This original design features the historic Garden Key Lighthouse located at Fort Jefferson in Dry Tortugas National Park. First lit in 1826, the original lighthouse helped guide mariners through the challenging waters of the Florida Straits. It was later replaced in the 1870s with a more modern iron tower, depicted in this pin, positioned atop the fort’s sally port. The lighthouse is no longer in commission but it does still stand strong.
Garden Key, home to Fort Jefferson, lies roughly 70 miles west of Key West, Florida, and is only accessible by boat or seaplane. Fort Jefferson is one of the largest brick structures in the Americas, serving historically as a fort, prison, and naval refueling station. Today, it remains a symbol of resilience, maritime history, and the enduring power of light to guide the way.
While this design honors the lighthouse’s legacy and the fort’s iconic presence, it is an artistic representation created exclusively by Pin Hive and is not affiliated with the National Park Service.
This pin is part of our Dry Tortugas Series, celebrating one of the most remote National Parks in the country. Like all our pins, it is ethically crafted in small to medium batches through a manufacturing partner who shares our values: safe conditions, low environmental impact, and responsible sourcing.
Although enamel pin production isn’t naturally eco friendly, we do our part to offset that impact. With each pin purchased:
One tree is planted
Two plastic bottles are removed from the ocean
