We know international shipping can feel confusing (and expensive), so we’re breaking it all down. Whether you’re ordering from the UK, Canada, Germany, or anywhere else in the world, here’s what to expect and how we’re making it as smooth as possible for you.
📦 How Our International Shipping Works
Our shipping prices are based on total weight and include:
Postage
Packaging
Landing fees and import taxes where applicable (more on that below)
💸 Our Shipping Rates
We currently ship worldwide using USPS First Class Package International.
This is the most affordable, reliable and eco friendly option for small items like pins, and yes, it includes tracking!

This helps us offer fair rates across the board, even when international postage can vary wildly based on country, customs requirements, or global delays.
🧾 What is DDP? And Why Does It Matter?
DDP stands for Delivered Duty Paid.
That means any customs, VAT, or import taxes are paid for before the items arrive at your door
Many international sellers use DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid), meaning you get hit with unexpected fees when your package arrives. Not fun. This is unfortunately the case for us as well
Here at Pin Hive:
We pay those fees up front for destinations when we can
Unfortunately USPS does not offer DDP shipping, and will not allow us to pay the custom fees online. That means your pins may arrive with surprise charges or holds
You may need to visit a post office or deal with customs bills to get your order (usually around 10% - 30% of your order).
We offer discount codes on our about us page so you can save that money for your import taxes.
Orders under $40 may not be subject to fees.
If you believe you were overcharged on accident, reach out to us via our chat box or email. Send us your order number and a copy of your import tax receipt. We will then approve or deny a refund for the suspected overcharged value.

Unlike giant fulfillment centers, we:
Hand package every order with care
Offer eco conscious shipping materials (which is pricier than plastic alternatives)
Include free extras at the discretion of the packer (thank you notes, codes, stickers, pins etc.)
Offset the cost of international tariffs, taxes, and admin time
Are committed to honest, no surprise pricing
You're not just paying for shipping, you're investing in transparency, peace of mind, and the planet. If shipping prices exceed the amount paid, we will cover the rest.
📮 How Long Does Shipping Take?
International (First Class USPS): ~7–21 business days
(Customs may cause slight delays, we include tracking on all shipments!)
We choose USPS over FedEx and UPS not just for reliability, but because their walking routes and lower emissions line up with our eco conscious values, it's a small detail, but one that matters to us.
